    Have You Library-ied Lately?

    The library is an amazing resource. They've got DVD's, CD's, magazines, books... so much! To get a library card all you have to do (at least here in Denver) is to bring a picture ID, and proof of residence. A current bill with your name and address on it works perfectly. Then, I go online to the libraries website and search for the item I want to check out. If they have it great, and if not, I use either the Request It! feature or search through the InterLibrary Loan system. So, if the library doesn't have it- they'll get it for you! Then, they email you or they'll call you when the item is ready for pickup at the location you specify. I love using the online system because I can get in and out and back to my day without spending to much time searching for items (not like that's a bad way to spend a day, but you know what I mean).

    The whole deal is really amazing, and it's even more amazing because it's completly free! 

    Most recently I checked out: The Art of Racing In The Rain by Garth Stein (haven't gotten to read it yet), and I've got Ellen DeGeneres's book Seriously, I'm Kidding on hold... can't wait for that one!

    I haven't bought a book in ages because I can find pretty much everything at the library. I even just downloaded an audiobook from the library. Onto my iPod!

    I love the library! I currently have checked out a chick lit book and a handful of books about dogs. I checked out The Art of Racing in the Rain on CD when I was taking a road trip two months ago - great book and a great use of the library!

    Just some titles to look up at the library!

    Fine Balance - by Rohinton Mistry Indian author and great story teller - It is a true saga
    Corrections - by Jonathan Franzen, also great saga
    The Yiddish Policeman's Union - by Michael Chabon. This book really needs the Coen brothers to make it into a movie - it has all the weirdness, intense characters etc.

    Love the library, but I also love seeing all of my lovely books on the shelves. And sometimes I still buy a book later that I really loved from the library. :)

    We have a serious library habit! It's been a great way to check out a big variety of children's books for our daughter so that we don't read the same books over and over. Now she's into longer books, so it's been to revisit old childhood favorites and meet some of the amazing new authors and illustrators.

    My husband and I check out graphic novels, novels, DIY books (canning and plumbing being the latest), and movies. In LA, you can request a book from a different branch and have it delivered to the branch of your choice. It's a great service.

    My husband and I do date nights at Barnes and Nobel (yes, we are sad but we like it and it is cheap). While there looking around and going over books, I make my library list. I do a lot of inner library loan from my computer. When it shows up at my library (they email me) I pick it up on my way home from work.
    Just got finished the the Hunger Games trilogy. I am so sad it is over and really hope they do not screw up the movie!

    Love my library! Haven't bought a book in years. I even check my University library for textbooks, most times they have an older edition you can check out and recheck to last the entire semester saving major dinero ;)

    My library has nine branches from which you can request and have them delivered to the branch of your choice, as well as a huge electronic library offering, including ePub books (for eReaders, including Nook) and Kindle books. Seriously! And of course, audio books. I have four kids who love books. We rarely buy - the library is just too great a resource.
